The project consisted of providing hygienic bathrooms in homes where there were no toilets or latrines, according to the census provided by the Ministry. The objective was to provide a sanitary solution to low-income families within the community. To achieve this objective, a water and drainage connection was made to the national water and sewage system. In the absence of sewerage, a biodigester system was provided according to the specifications approved by the Ministry of Health. Likewise, users of the sanitary unit were trained in its use and maintenance. The project was guaranteed for one year from the date of delivery.
The scope of the project included the following activities: approval of blueprints and obtaining of construction permits, interconnection of drinking water, interconnection to the existing sewage system or use of biodigester systems, as well as intradomestic connections and basic electricity service for the bathroom and adaptation to the existing housing, percolation studies, preparation and delivery of the final approved blueprint, delivery of technical reports and specifications, and the preparation and installation of informative signs on the project.
